Getting started
Your first five minutes: an account, your subjects and exams, the app on your phone, and how to find anything.
StemPy Lab pairs school and college science and maths with Python: lessons, problems, labs and tests where you work the ideas out, not just read about them. Most of the site is open without an account. An account lets you track progress, save things, take timed tests, join classes and take part in the community.

Make an account
Press Sign up. Everyone starts as a student. If you teach, tick I'm a teacher when you sign up, or apply later under Edit Profile, Teaching on StemPy Lab. Tell us where you teach, what you teach and your highest qualification; we read every application and tell you here and by email.
Tell us what you are preparing for
On Mock Tests or your dashboard, choose your exams (JEE Main, NEET, the boards and more). Papers and live exams for them come first.
Pick your subjects
Under Edit Profile, choose the subjects you learn or teach. New forms start on your first subject.

Lists, filters and sorting
The lists (Courses, Learning Paths, Problems, Quizzes, Python Labs, Notes, Resources, Mock Tests, Question Sets and Discussions) all work the same way.
- Pick a Subject, a Level and a Topic. The choices follow each other, so you only see ones that lead somewhere. Problems also filter by difficulty and type.
- Type in the search box to look for words in titles and text.
- Press Saved to see only what you bookmarked.
- ↺ Reset filters clears the search, every filter, the Saved view and the sort.
- Lists open Mixed, with subjects taking turns. The Sort menu shows newest, oldest, or A to Z.
- Anything added in the last seven days has a green New pill. A Recently added row shows the topics that got new content.
Search
The search bar at the top looks across courses, lessons, problems, quizzes, labs, tests, discussions, resources and notes at once. It matches titles and topics, so "mechanics" finds everything filed under Mechanics. It also finds content in other languages by its translated title.
The Experts group finds teachers by name, qualification or the subjects they teach. Content kept private by its author, or on a plan above yours, is left out of your results.
Subjects
Everything belongs to one subject (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Python, Statistics and more), and its topics belong to that subject. Choosing Mathematics only offers Mathematics topics.
Subjects are a starting point, not a wall. When you link content into a course, path, test or class, the search starts on that item's subject but its Search in menu can switch to another subject or to all of them.
Text size and theme
The Aa button at the top (in the menu on a phone) makes the text of the whole site bigger or smaller, in four steps. It is better than zooming, which can break the layout. The theme switch changes between light and dark. Both are kept on that device.
Other languages
If a problem, discussion or comment is written in a language other than English, a See Translation button appears beside it. Press it to read it in English. The writer does not need to do anything.
This works for Hindi or Bengali typed in English letters too, such as "mujhe ye samajh nahi aaya". A very short message in another language written in English letters may not be recognised.
