These terms govern your use of StemPy Lab, built and maintained by senLearn, a sole proprietorship owned by Smt. Purnima Sen, based in West Bengal, India. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. If you are under 18, a parent, guardian, or your school should review these terms with you.
StemPy Lab is made for school learners (from about Class 6), for teachers, and for parents. If you are under 13, use it only with a parent or guardian, who should set up your account and agree to these terms for you. We ask for a parent or guardian's email for everyone under 18. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian is responsible for your use of the site and for any purchase made for you, and a paid plan must be bought by an adult or with an adult's approval. The law does not let a minor make a binding contract alone, so an adult's agreement is what makes these terms apply to a young learner. When a parent or guardian approves an account from the email we send them, they accept these terms and our Privacy Policy on the learner's behalf, and we record which versions they accepted.
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your account credentials secure. You may not share your account with others or create an account on behalf of someone else without their permission.
Accounts are one of four roles: student, teacher, admin, or moderator. Teachers can create classes, courses, and assessable content, and can view the work and progress of students in their own classes. Moderators can act on reported or policy-violating content platform-wide, within a narrower set of permissions than admins. Admins moderate content platform-wide and manage user roles; a designated admin can additionally hold superadmin status, which adds the ability to grant or revoke admin/moderator status itself. Role changes are made by site administrators, not by users themselves, and are logged for accountability.
A teacher may invite another teacher to co-teach a class or co-author a course. Once accepted, a collaborator has the same access to that class or course's content and student data as the original teacher. Removing a collaborator ends that access.
Students can rate and leave feedback on classes, courses, problems, quizzes, and labs, for the teacher/author to read and act on. Feedback is anonymous by default (you may choose to post under your own name instead) and is subject to the same Acceptable Use rules as any other content you submit.
When you post a problem, quiz, lab, mock test, question set, course, resource, note, comment, or discussion, you retain ownership of it, but you grant us the right to display it on the site to other users as intended by the feature you used it in (for example, a published community problem is shown to anyone browsing problems). You alone are responsible for content you submit: including making sure it doesn't infringe anyone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights, and that you have the right to share it. We do not review content before it is published, do not endorse it, and are not responsible for it. If a claim, dispute, or legal demand arises from content you posted, it is between you and the party making the claim; see "Copyright and intellectual property complaints" and "Indemnification" below for how we handle that and what you agree to.
We may remove or unpublish content that violates these terms, is reported and found to be inappropriate, is the subject of a valid infringement notice, or is requested to be taken down by its author. Removing content in response to a complaint is not an admission by us that the complaint is valid, and does not make us a party to the underlying dispute.
A teacher or institute who publishes a mock test or question set, or sends an exam for approval, is responsible for every question in it, its options, its answer and its explanation, including questions read from their own paper by the site's AI and any answer or explanation the AI suggested. Before publishing, or sending an exam for approval, you declare that you have reviewed every question and its answer and that you are responsible for any error in them and for its consequences. Answers suggested by the AI are aids for you to check; they are not answers we stand behind.
We keep each declaration as a record: its exact words, your account, name and email, the date and time, the IP address and browser it was made from, and a copy of every question and answer as they stood. We keep it after the test, or your account, is deleted, so that a dispute about the paper can be settled from the record. You can view or download your declarations from the test's page.
All content types on this site that a user can author or upload (problems, quizzes, labs, mock tests, question sets, courses, resources, notes, discussion posts, and any file or image attached to them) are the responsibility of the account that posted them, not of StemPy Lab or senLearn. We act as an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and a host for user-submitted content; we don't create or select it, and we follow the due-diligence rules that apply to intermediaries. If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, tell us and we will act on it. You don't need to pursue the poster directly first.
To report infringing content, email support@stempylab.com with the subject line "Copyright Complaint" and include:
We acknowledge a complaint within 24 hours and act on valid complaints without unnecessary delay: ordinarily within 15 days, and within the time the law sets (a few hours at present) if we receive a valid court order or a written direction from the Government requiring removal. For a complaint under Rule 75 we restrict access to the work for 21 days, or until a court orders otherwise, whichever comes first. We may remove or restrict access to the reported content while we review it. The account that posted the content will be notified and, unless the notice concerns a category of content we're legally required to act on without input from them (such as a court order), may submit a counter-notice explaining why the content doesn't infringe; we may restore content in response to a good-faith counter-notice unless the complainant escalates the dispute through legal channels. Submitting a knowingly false complaint or counter-notice may expose you to liability under applicable law.
An account that repeatedly posts infringing content will have that content removed and, at our discretion, may have its posting privileges restricted or its account terminated.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless StemPy Lab and our team from any claim, liability, damages, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: content you submit, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any right of a third party (including intellectual property rights) through your use of the site. This applies even after you stop using the site or delete your account, for content that was posted while you were using it.
You agree not to post or share anything that:
You also agree not to:
Classes on this site are created and managed by teachers using their own judgment about who to admit and what to assign. We provide the platform for this interaction but are not a party to the underlying teaching relationship between a teacher and their students.
Live sessions run on Jitsi (meet.jit.si) or on a meeting link the teacher provides, such as Google Meet or Zoom; those services have their own terms. A teacher who records a session must tell the class, and a student must not record, copy or share a live session or a recording without the teacher's permission. Teachers are responsible for how they run their classes and for the safety and conduct of their sessions.
Take a test or an exam on your own, without help from anyone or anything (another person, another device, a search engine or an AI), and keep the exam screen open from start to end. Leaving the screen is recorded and timed, and so is the time on each question. An attempt that leaves the screen more often than the exam allows is held out of the ranks, leaderboards and certificates until the teacher or organiser reviews it; they may clear it or disqualify it, and their decision on their own test or exam is final. An exam's organiser may also correct an answer or drop a question after the exam, and everyone's marks then change.
A certificate shows the name you give for certificates (or your profile name), and it must be your real name. Do not change a certificate, present someone else's as yours, or use one to mislead anyone. Anyone you give a certificate's number or QR code to can check it on the site.
A certificate records a result or a completion on StemPy Lab. It is not a school, board or university qualification, and StemPy Lab does not accredit anyone. If the results of a test change after its certificates were issued (an answer corrected, an attempt cleared or disqualified), the certificates are issued again with the new marks and place, and if the teacher changes the name a test's certificates are issued in, or renames the class or the test, they are issued again with the new name; the earlier one stays on the site, marked as replaced, and a certificate whose holder is no longer ranked is marked as withdrawn.
A teacher who runs tests or exams in an organisation's name (a coaching centre, a school) must be authorised to use that name and logo, and confirms this when adding them; an admin checks them before they appear. Its tests and certificates then read "conducted by <organisation> in collaboration with StemPy Lab", which means the test was run on StemPy Lab, not that StemPy Lab sets, endorses or is responsible for the organisation's teaching. We may remove an organisation's name or logo on a complaint or if it is used without the right to.
An organiser may use the list of an exam's or a class test's candidates (names, member IDs, schools, cities, results, and the emails adults chose to share) only to run that test and tell candidates about their results, and may not pass it on. Messages to candidates or their parents through StemPy Lab must be about that exam only: never advertising, and never anything aimed at children for another purpose. We may stop an organiser's messages, or remove their exams, if these rules are broken. The same applies to an exam's Announcements board, which anyone can read: posts there must be about that exam, and we may take one down.
An organiser may charge candidates a fee for an exam and collect it themselves, by the payment details shown on the exam's page (UPI, a payment link, a bank transfer or at their centre). StemPy Lab is not a party to that payment: it does not receive, hold or refund the fee, and the candidate's agreement about it is with the organiser. The organiser must show only their own payment details, describe truthfully what the fee covers, let in everyone who paid, and refund the fee if they cancel the exam or cannot hold it. An under-18 candidate's fee should be paid by a parent or guardian. We check payment details before an exam is announced, only we can change them afterwards, and we may cancel an exam, remove an organiser or tell candidates if we learn of a misuse.
Admins and specific admin-approved teacher accounts have access to an AI drafting tool for creating problems, quizzes, labs, courses, and notes. Any content drafted this way is reviewed and published the same way as manually written content; using it doesn't change your responsibility under "Content you submit" and "Acceptable use" above for anything you publish with its help.
Accounts an admin has enabled it for additionally have access to an AI practice-problem generator for their own study use, and any logged-in user can request an AI-assisted translation of content into another language. Neither is reviewed by a person before you see it: AI-generated or AI-translated text can be inaccurate or contain errors, is provided "as is," and isn't a substitute for the site's own reviewed curriculum content. AI features are rate-limited per account and may be restricted or disabled site-wide at our discretion.
Some resources link to simulations and materials hosted by third parties (for example, PhET Interactive Simulations, University of Colorado Boulder, used under their CC BY 4.0 license). We don't control and aren't responsible for third-party sites you visit through these links.
We aim to keep the site available and your data intact, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and the service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
The lessons, problems and quizzes are meant to help you learn. We take care over them, but they may contain mistakes, and they are not a promise of any exam result or a substitute for your teacher, school or a qualified professional. Check anything important with your teacher.
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or opportunity, arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or ₹1,000 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for fraud, or takes away rights you have as a consumer.
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the site is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Arambagh, District Hooghly, West Bengal (and, where the value or nature of a claim requires, the District Court at Chinsurah, Hooghly), and the Calcutta High Court on appeal. This does not take away your right, as a consumer, to bring a complaint before the consumer commission where you live or work, under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. If you have a problem, please write to us first at support@stempylab.com; most things can be settled without a dispute.
We may update these terms or change, add, or remove features over time. We post a site announcement when the terms change in a way that matters, and we remind our users of these terms at least once a year. Continued use of the site after a change to these terms means you accept the updated terms.
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms. You may stop using the site and request account deletion at any time. See our Privacy Policy for how.

We acknowledge a complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days. Complaints about nudity, sexual content or someone pretending to be you are handled much faster, within the time the Rules set.
StemPy Lab's own live series follow the same rules as any exam, applied automatically: an attempt over the series' screen rule is taken out of the ranks when the results come out, and you may appeal once within the days the series allows; a paper you have sat before is not ranked for you again. Points, standings and trophies are for encouragement only and carry no prize unless we say so for a particular series.
My performance shows, as a rough guide, where your recent average on StemPy Lab papers would have stood in a real exam's published figures for a past year. Those figures come from the sources it names, which we check but do not control, and practice papers here differ from the real exam. It is not a prediction of your result, rank or admission, and you should not rely on it for any decision.
Holding class tests and exams on StemPy Lab is free for now. We may later charge organisers for some of it (for example for large exams, or for collecting fees from candidates); we will say so on the site and tell organisers at least 30 days before, and a fee will never apply to an exam already announced. A teacher who shows a class on the Mock Tests page must describe it truthfully; we may take a listing down.
Anyone may show the list of coming exams on their own website with the box, calendar or feeds the Mock Tests page gives, as long as the details are not changed and each exam links to its page on StemPy Lab.
