Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
Raju puts only catla in his pond. His neighbour Sita stocks catla, rohu, mrigal, common carp and grass carp in hers. Say where each kind feeds, and explain why Sita's pond gives the bigger harvest.
Layers give eggs and broilers give meat. Composite fish culture rears catla (top), rohu (middle), mrigal and common carp (bottom) and grass carp (weeds) in one pond, and hatcheries give pure fish seed. Fish die before harvest, so fewer fish are caught than were stocked.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. Where they feed. Catla feeds near the surface, rohu in the middle, mrigal and common carp at the bottom, and grass carp on the weeds.
Step 2. Raju's pond. With only catla, the food at the other levels is not used.
Step 3. Sita's pond. Each kind feeds at its own level, so they do not compete, and all the food is used.
Answer: the five kinds use five different kinds of food, so Sita's pond gives the bigger harvest.
