Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
A sample holds haemoglobin molecules.
About per cent of the oxygen travels on haemoglobin in the red blood cells, and about per cent is dissolved in plasma. One haemoglobin molecule carries at most oxygen molecules. Every mL of oxygenated blood delivers about mL of oxygen to the tissues.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Given. Haemoglobin molecules: . Saturation in part (b): .
Plan. Find the most that can be carried, then take the per cent.
Step 1. (a) oxygen molecules.
Step 2. (b) oxygen molecules.
Answer: at most, and at saturation.
Check. is less than , as it must be.
