Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
Say whether each feature belongs to cytokinesis in an animal cell, in a plant cell, or in both.
Cytokinesis cuts the cytoplasm in two. An animal cell forms a furrow from the outside, and a plant cell forms a cell plate from the centre. Each division doubles the number of cells. After divisions of every cell, one cell gives cells.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. (a) Animal cell.
Step 2. (b) Plant cell. The vesicles fuse into the cell plate.
Step 3. (c) Both. The organelles are shared between the daughter cells.
Step 4. (d) Animal cell.
Step 5. (e) Plant cell. The cell plate is the precursor of the middle lamella.
Answer: (a) animal; (b) plant; (c) both; (d) animal; (e) plant.
