Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
On a damp slice of bread, Rhizopus forms sporangia, and each releases about spores. Only spore in lands on moist food and grows. About how many spores are released, and about how many new moulds grow?
In asexual reproduction one parent makes new individuals without gametes: fission (binary in Amoeba and Leishmania, multiple in Plasmodium), fragmentation (Spirogyra), regeneration (Planaria), budding (Hydra), spores (Rhizopus) and vegetative propagation in plants. In binary fission each round doubles the number of cells.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. Spores. spores.
Step 2. New moulds. new moulds.
Answer: about spores, and about new moulds. This is why a mould makes so many spores.
