Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
A roadside mustard has flowers with four sepals, four petals, six stamens and two carpels. All the parts are counted as separate parts. Find the number of floral parts in one flower, the number in the calyx and corolla together, and the share of stamens among all the parts.
A floral formula is written in the order Br, symmetry sign, sex sign, K, C or P, A, G. A number gives how many parts there are. Brackets show that parts are fused, and a plus joins two groups. A line under G is a superior ovary, and a line over G is an inferior ovary. In a floral diagram, the mother axis is a dot at the top, the calyx is outermost and the gynoecium is at the centre.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. All the parts. .
Step 2. Calyx and corolla. .
Step 3. The share of stamens. .
Answer: parts in all; in the calyx and corolla; the stamens are of all the parts.
