A redox equation is balanced when the electrons lost equal the electrons gained. Follow the oxidation numbers, find what changes, match the changes, then balance the rest. Worked for permanganate with iron(II), copper with nitric acid and zinc with very dilute nitric acid.
Split a redox reaction into an oxidation half and a reduction half. Balance each half with water, and electrons, make the electrons equal, then add. Worked in acid and in base for permanganate, dichromate, hydrogen peroxide and chlorine.
A redox titration finds an unknown concentration by running one solution into another until the reaction just finishes. Permanganate, dichromate, and iodine with thiosulfate, the end point, mole ratios and n-factors.
