Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
Say how each of these gets its food: grass on a lawn, yeast in bread dough, a louse in hair, a frog, Cuscuta on a hedge, and Amoeba in a pond.
Holozoic: whole food taken in and digested inside. Saprophytic: food digested outside the body on dead matter, then absorbed. Parasitic: food taken from a living host. Amoeba traps food in a food vacuole with pseudopodia; Paramecium sweeps it into a fixed groove with cilia.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. Makes its own food. Grass: autotrophic.
Step 2. Feeds on a living host. The louse (on blood) and Cuscuta (on the hedge): parasitic.
Step 3. Digests food outside. Yeast in dough breaks down sugar outside its cell and absorbs it: saprophytic.
Step 4. Takes in whole food. The frog and Amoeba: holozoic.
Answer: grass autotrophic; louse and Cuscuta parasitic; yeast saprophytic; frog and Amoeba holozoic.
