A student has an old laptop with Windows 7, 4 gigabytes of memory, and no internet at home. A second student has a new Chromebook with Wi-Fi. Say, for each one, whether Python can be installed, and what each student can do.
The worked solution
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Plan. Check the three things from the lesson: the system, the space and memory, and the internet for the download.
The first student. The laptop has enough memory (4 gigabytes is more than the 2 that is plenty). But Windows 7 is too old for the current Python, and there is no internet for the download. The student cannot install Python on this laptop. The student can still learn in the code boxes whenever there is internet, for example at school or in a library.
The second student. A Chromebook can turn on its Linux environment in Settings. After that, the student follows the Linux steps to install Python. Or the student can use the code boxes right away.
Check. Each answer uses the facts: the system, the internet, and the choice of the code boxes.
Answer: The first student cannot install Python on that laptop, but can use the code boxes. The second student can use the Linux environment of the Chromebook, or the code boxes.
