Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
Three books give three totals for the ATP of one glucose. The first gives every NADH, also the NADH of glycolysis, ATP and every FADH ATP. The second gives ATP for each NADH and for each FADH, and counts the NADH of glycolysis as . The third is like the second, but counts the NADH of glycolysis as .
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. (a) .
Step 2. (b) .
Step 3. (c) .
Step 4. (d) NCERT gives , which is less than the first book, because it counts the NADH of glycolysis as ATP and not .
Answer: ; ; ; NCERT gives , which is less than .
Watch out. The differences come from the value that is given to each carrier. The pathway is the same.

One NADH gives ATP and one FADH gives ATP. For one glucose there are ATP made directly, NADH (2 from glycolysis, 2 from the link reaction, 6 from the Krebs cycle) and FADH. NCERT counts the NADH of glycolysis as ATP each and states a net gain of ATP. The count is theoretical.
