A tuning fork of frequency makes a sound in air. Find the wavelength and the time period. (Speed of sound )
Need a reminder? The key ideaShow
Frequency (waves each second, in ), time period , wavelength (compression to compression), and . The medium sets ; the source sets .
The worked solution
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. .
Step 2. , about .
Check. In one time period the wave moves one wavelength: .
