Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
Sort these seven fungi into the four classes: Albugo, Mucor, Aspergillus, Claviceps, Neurospora, Agaricus and Colletotrichum. How many fungi are in each class?
Phycomycetes: aseptate, coenocytic mycelium, zygospores (Mucor, Rhizopus, Albugo). Ascomycetes, the sac fungi: septate mycelium, conidia, ascospores in asci (yeast, Penicillium, Aspergillus, Claviceps, Neurospora). Basidiomycetes: basidiospores on basidia (Agaricus, Ustilago, Puccinia). Deuteromycetes, the imperfect fungi: only the asexual stage is known (Alternaria, Colletotrichum, Trichoderma).
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. Phycomycetes. Albugo and Mucor: .
Step 2. Ascomycetes. Aspergillus, Claviceps and Neurospora: .
Step 3. Basidiomycetes. Agaricus, the mushroom: .
Step 4. Deuteromycetes. Colletotrichum: .
