Write the pascal in SI base units. A student of mass 60 kg stands on one foot…

Step 1. The pascal. $\dfrac{\text{kg m s}^{-2}}{\text{m}^2} = \text{kg m}^{-1}\,\text{s}^{-2}$.

Step 2. Force. $F = mg = 60\ \text{kg} \times 9.8\ \text{m/s}^2 = 588\ \text{N}$.

Step 3. Area. $150\ \text{cm}^2 = 150 \times 10^{-4}\ \text{m}^2 = 0.015\ \text{m}^2$.

Step 4. Pressure. $p = \dfrac{588\ \text{N}}{0.015\ \text{m}^2} = 39200\ \text{Pa}$.
