Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
Kavya counts beats of her pulse in s while sitting. After two minutes of skipping, she counts beats in s. Find her heart rate in each case, and how much it went up.
The heart rate is the number of beats in one minute. Count the pulse at the wrist for a short time, then scale up to s. Blood pumped in a minute = beats in a minute blood in one beat.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. Sitting. s is a quarter of a minute, so beats per minute.
Step 2. After skipping. beats per minute.
Step 3. The rise. beats per minute.
Answer: beats per minute sitting and after skipping, a rise of beats per minute. The faster beat sends more oxygen to her working muscles.
