Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
Where can the point lie in each case?
A point is : go along the x-axis, then up or down. The signs choose the quadrant: I , II , III , IV . A point on an axis lies in no quadrant: on the x-axis, on the y-axis.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. (a). Quadrant II.
Step 2. (b). Quadrant I.
Step 3. (c). Opposite signs: quadrant II or quadrant IV.
Step 4. (d). On the y-axis, above the origin.
Answer: II; I; II or IV; the upper half of the y-axis.
