Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
For one glucose, the link reaction and the Krebs cycle send NADH and FADH to the electron transport system. One NADH gives ATP, and one FADH gives ATP.
The electron transport system lies on the inner membrane. Electrons go from NADH to complex I, and from FADH to complex II, then through ubiquinone, complex III, cytochrome c and complex IV to oxygen, which becomes water. One NADH gives 3 ATP and one FADH gives 2 ATP. Each carrier makes one water.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Given. NADH: . FADH: .
Plan. Count the carriers for the water, halve it for the oxygen, and add the ATP of each carrier.
Step 1. Water. One water for each carrier: .
Step 2. Oxygen. molecules.
Step 3. ATP. From NADH: . From FADH: . Together: .
Answer: water; oxygen molecules; ATP.
Check. The oxygen that the cell takes in must equal the oxygen in the water that is made, and the water has oxygen atoms, which come from molecules.
