Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
Say whether each is evaporation or boiling, and give a reason.
Evaporation is the change of a liquid into a gas at its surface, at any temperature. It is faster with a larger surface, a higher temperature, a lower humidity and more wind. Boiling happens all through the liquid, at the boiling point, with bubbles.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. Evaporation. (a) Ink dries at room temperature, from its surface. (c) The solvent in nail polish evaporates in a minute, at body temperature. (d) The puddle is far below .
Step 2. Boiling. (b) Bubbles form all through the water at the boiling point. (e) The water inside the cooker is boiling, and the steam lifts the whistle.
Answer: (a), (c) and (d) are evaporation. (b) and (e) are boiling.
