Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
Each ventricle pumps mL of blood in each beat, and the heart beats times in a minute.
The right ventricle sends deoxygenated blood to the lungs by the pulmonary artery. The pulmonary veins bring oxygenated blood to the left atrium. The left ventricle sends it to the body by the aorta. Arteries carry blood away from the heart, and veins carry it towards the heart. The hepatic portal vein carries blood from the intestine to the liver. The coronary vessels supply the heart muscle.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Given. Volume of a beat: mL. Rate: beats a minute.
Plan. Find the volume in a minute, then change it to litres.
Step 1. Right ventricle. mL, which is L.
Step 2. Left ventricle. The two sides pump the same volume, so it is L.
Step 3. Ten minutes. L.
Answer: L; L; L.
Check. If the left side pumped more, blood would pile up in the lungs.
