Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
A train's speed in m/s was measured at the times 0, 2, 5, 9, 10 and 12 s: 0, 6, 10, 10, 4 and 0. Find the distance travelled, the distance in the first 5 seconds, and the mean speed over the whole trip.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Plan. The times are unequal, so give np.trapezoid the times too. For the first 5 seconds, use only the first three points.
Check. The trapezoids are: , then , then , then , then . The sum is 81. The first two are 30. The mean speed is m/s.
Answer: 81 m in all, 30 m in the first 5 seconds, and a mean speed of 6.75 m/s.
