Try it on paper first. A hint, the key idea and the worked solution are here when you need them.
A family of throws away about g of garbage per person each day. How many kilograms is that in a month of days? If they reduce it by a fifth, how many kilograms do they save in that month?
Reduce, reuse and recycle, in that order. Sort wet waste (green bin, for compost) from dry waste (blue bin, for recycling). Landfills fill up, and burning releases harmful gases. Kulhads for every railway cup would use up fertile topsoil.
Have you tried it?
Work it out on paper first. It is fine to get stuck or make a mistake: that is how we learn. When you are ready, go through the solution one step at a time, and check each step against your own.
Step 1. Grams. g.
Step 2. Kilograms. kg.
Step 3. The saving. kg.
Answer: kg in the month; reducing by a fifth saves kg.
