Kinetic energy is the energy of a moving object, . It grows four times when the speed doubles, and the work done on an object equals the change in its kinetic energy.
Potential energy is energy stored because of position or shape. An object of mass at a height has of it, measured from a level we choose. A stretched spring or band stores energy too.
